Bookkeeper and Accounts Assistant

We are looking for a full or part time experienced Bookkeeper and Accounts Assistant to join our fantastic team on a permanent basis. Initially working with the Bookkeeping team whilst assisting with Year End Accounts and Self Assessment Tax Returns, we are currently planning to move away from ‘departments’ and diversify our team’s workload.

Recently celebrating our 20th Birthday and moving to a bright new open plan office in Derriford, we currently have a great team of people working with us who are very knowledgeable and fantastic at what they do. We would like someone who can slot themselves into that team and help us to continue delivering the best services that we can to our range of clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with clients to obtain records and answer queries
  • Working with the bookkeeping team to complete all aspects Bookkeeping and VAT Returns within statutory and internal deadlines
  • Sense checking the Income Statement (Profit and Loss) and reconciling the Statement of Financial Position (Balance Sheet)
  • Assisting the Corporate and Tax teams to complete end of year Accounts, Corporation Tax returns and Self-Assessment returns
  • Answering phones and other ad hoc admin tasks

Skill and Qualifications:

  • Experience of Xero (desired)
  • Experience of Sage One and QuickBooks online
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Good communication and positive attitude
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Part qualified in AAT or qualified by other experience
