A tough weekend’s racing for the Bests and some more to come!
I am pleased to report that both Angela and myself came through both our respective weekend races unscathed and pretty pleased with our progress this weekend.
Angela competed in the Liskeard Tri series sprint triathlon on Sunday. The weather was lovely to spectate but probably a little warmer than you would like for racing in. Angela finished in a very pleasing time of 1 hour 17 mins which was a whole 2 minutes quicker than her previous year, which is great.
I competed in a half marathon race at Fingle Bridge near Castle Drogo called The Maverick. This is a particularly hilly affair on trail paths in the woods.
Again the weather was very warm. There was a slight discrepancy with the advertised mileage of the race as while it was supposed to be 13.1 miles it ended up 14.8!!
In the end a great race though and I was pleased with my 4th place over all. Great training for my main event at the end of July in Snowdonia.
I have another race next weekend – this time a standard Tri at Goodrington Sands which should be good fun. Fingers crossed for the weather.
We hope you had fun this weekend and are ready to face the working week.
