Goodwood Triathlon 255K race
On the 8th of August 2021 I will be attempting the worlds longest one day triathlon race at the Goodwood race circuit. it will consist of a 5K swim, 200K bike ride and finally a 50K run. All must be completed within 18 hours.
I have completed multiple triathlons over the years and running races but not since 2016 have I raced anywhere near as long as this in a single day, where I completed the Bolton full Ironman triathlon, which was 220K.
As this race is a first of its kind and therefore a bit special, also due to the nature of the course in having to go around and around and around, it will be mentally challenging for me as well as physically.
It made sense to me to try to use this experience and raise awareness and some funds for a local Charity which I have been involved with for many years, and like so many others have been hit very hard by the lack of fundraising opportunities in 2020 with events having to be cancelled due to Covid.
The Charity is Bowel Cancer West who’s aim is to raise awareness, fund research and provide training in the symptoms and treatment of this horrid disease. I have seen first hand the positive side of what this charity can do and I wish for it to be able to continue to help as many people in the future as possible.
I have a just giving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/john-best15
Any donation big or small would be amazing and certainly appreciated.
Alternatively, if anyone would be inclined to become a regular supporter by way of monthly donations this can be set up by firstly contacting me on my email john@bestaccountancy.co.uk and I can explain how this works.
Here is a link to the charity https://bowelcancerwest.com
Stay healthy out there
John.
